My Journey to Digital Marketing: From Uncertainty to a New Beginning
Introduction
Hello, I am Athul K., from Kannur. My journey into digital marketing has been filled with ups and downs, moments of self-doubt, and a strong desire to find my true calling. Today, as I take my next step toward building a career in digital marketing, I want to share my story—how I started, the challenges I faced, and why I believe better days are ahead.
Early Education and Struggles
I come from a small but loving family of four—my father, mother, sister, and me. I completed my schooling at G H S S Padiyoor and later pursued my BCA degree from VVET Mysore. However, my college days were not as smooth as I had imagined. Due to my laziness and lack of focus, I ended up with several backlogs.
Just when I thought I had time to catch up, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and everything came to a standstill. I had to return home, and soon, boredom started creeping in. While many were utilizing this time for self-improvement, I felt stuck, uncertain about my future, and unsure about what to do next.
Discovering Digital Marketing
During the lockdown, I stumbled upon digital marketing. The idea of learning something online fascinated me, so I decided to enroll in a digital marketing course on Avodha. Surprisingly, I found it really interesting and completed the course with enthusiasm.
However, learning online had its challenges. There were times when I felt confused, struggled to solve problems, and wished I had a mentor to guide me. Despite these struggles, my interest in digital marketing grew, but I didn’t have a clear roadmap for turning it into a career.
A Detour: Running a Mobile Shop
After completing the course, I didn’t immediately pursue a digital marketing job. Instead, my father started a mobile shop, and I took responsibility for running it for one and a half years. This experience taught me a lot about handling customers, managing a business, and understanding the importance of marketing in attracting customers.
But deep down, I knew this was not where I wanted to be. Something was missing.
Re-evaluating My Career Path
As time passed, personal reasons pushed me to look for a stable, job-oriented career. I started researching different fields—IT, finance, business, and even government jobs. But nothing truly excited me.
Then, I had a realization—why not return to digital marketing? I had already learned the basics, and the more I researched, the more I understood the immense potential digital marketing has. The job versatility, career opportunities, rapid growth, and its influence in everyday life made me rethink my choices.
Finding the Right Institute
This time, I wanted to take digital marketing seriously and find an excellent institute that could guide me properly. I spent several days researching and going through reviews, but nothing convinced me completely.
One day, while scrolling through Instagram, I came across an ad for Upskill Institute. The ad caught my attention instantly. I visited their page and checked every post, student review, and placement update. Something about Upskill felt right—it looked promising, professional, and exactly what I needed.
Without hesitation, I decided to enroll in Upskill Institute, believing that this could be the turning point in my journey.

I believe better days are coming, and this time, I won’t let anything hold me back.
